ELISENHEIM BREAKS GROUND ON NEW PADEL COURTS
Windhoek, Namibia – Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate (Elisenheim or estate) in partnership with the Urban Village, Holms Construction and estate residents, has commenced construction of Elisenheim Padel, a new sporting facility that will introduce two international standard padel courts at the estate’s main lifestyle hub near the retail and gym facilities.
The development, scheduled for completion in May 2026, forms part of the estate’s broader vision of building an active, socially connected community environment where residents and visitors can engage through sport and shared experiences.
According to Le Hugo van Rooyen, CEO of APxHouse Property Development Holdings (Pty) Ltd, the introduction of padel reflects both the changing nature of modern residential developments and the demand for social sport. “Padel has a unique ability to bring people together. It is accessible, slower-paced and inherently social, which makes it perfectly suited to a residential environment like Elisenheim,” said van Rooyen. “As the sport continues gaining momentum in Namibia, we see this facility becoming a place where residents and visitors connect on and off court while strengthening the sense of community the estate is known for.”
Padel, widely regarded as the fastest growing racquet sport in the world, has expanded dramatically in recent years with more than 30 million players across nearly 150 countries and an estimated 70,000 courts expected globally by end of 2026. Namibia has mirrored this trend, with the sport gaining strong momentum in Windhoek and other urban centers as new facilities open and local participation continues to grow.
The project will feature two professional-grade outdoor courts, constructed to international standards using glass enclosure systems and specialized artificial turf to support both recreational and competitive play. High performance LED floodlighting will enable evening matches, significantly extending playing hours and allowing the facility to remain active beyond daylight conditions.
In line with modern padel venues worldwide, the courts will operate through a digital booking platform, enabling players to reserve courts, organise matches and manage play schedules through a mobile application.
The new courts will integrate with the estate’s existing amenities, including parking areas, pedestrian access points and surrounding social spaces, forming a natural extension of the estate’s recreational infrastructure.
The positioning of the courts has also been planned with future expansion potential, allowing additional courts to be introduced should demand for the sport continue to increase.
Elisenheim continues to position itself around the concept of nature-meets-convenience living, where quality residential development is combined with lifestyle amenities that encourage active living and community interaction. The introduction of Elisenheim Padel represents one of several planned enhancements to the estate’s recreational offering, further building its reputation as one of Windhoek’s most dynamic residential communities.
